Privacy Policy for Ember
Last updated: July 01, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how the Ember mobile application ("the App," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use our service.
Summary: Ember is built with privacy in mind. We do not have servers. We do not collect personal information. All of your data — settings, custom workouts, history, streaks — is stored locally on your device and never sent anywhere.
Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect, request, transmit, or have access to any of the following:
- Your name, email address, phone number, or any contact information
- Your location
- Your contacts, photos, files, or any other content on your device
- Your usage patterns or behavioral data
- Any account information (Ember has no user accounts or logins)
- Any health or fitness data beyond what you voluntarily enter into the app
Information Stored Locally on Your Device
The following is stored only on your device, using Android's standard local storage mechanisms (SharedPreferences):
- Your sound, theme, and voice preferences
- Custom workouts you create
- Your workout completion history (last 200 sessions)
- Your streak data
- Your last-used workout
This information never leaves your device. If you uninstall the App, this data is permanently deleted.
Permissions We Request
- INTERNET: Reserved for future advertising features (none in v1.0). No personal data is sent over the network in v1.0.
- WAKE_LOCK: Allows the screen to stay on during active workouts.
- VIBRATE: Reserved for future use.
Children's Privacy
Ember does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The app is suitable for users of all ages.
Data Security
Because we do not collect or transmit any personal data, there is no server-side data to secure. Local data on your device is protected by Android's standard security model.
Your Rights
Since we do not collect personal data, there is nothing for us to provide, modify, or delete on your behalf. You have full control over your locally-stored data by:
- Clearing app data in Android Settings → Apps → Ember → Storage → Clear data
- Uninstalling the app
- Using the in-app "Clear history" option in the Stats screen
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Significant changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
